We are being flooded---600+ new members in 24 hours...

Please bear with us----nothing like success, I guess. Many of you can't download because we've reached download limits. We will try to correct this ASAP. Remember, Windows users, though: The build is currently broken, but being recompiled with a new compiler. So you should be waiting anyway. We should have things fixed soon. Meanwhile i have updated the tutorials section in the left hand sidebar: check those out while you are waiting.

WOW!!! Tell us how you found us.....

Holy Mackerel! We're being flooded with new members and requests for the MAC beta link. A huge welcome to you all---it's fantastic! Please comment to this post about how you found us. But be patient if your post doesn't appear right away---I'm approving new members as fast as I can, and your post won't appear until I approve your membership. Also, please be patient while we scramble to answer your questions---old LZ hands, now's the time to pitch in. We have some new tutorials done by a new member, I'll have those links sorted shortly and put in the right place.

Alert: Broken Windows Build

We are experiencing a temporary problem with our Windows build. It broke during an attempted update on July 8. We are working on that now. Those of you who downloaded before that have no worries, but those who did after that may have problems. If you have not yet downloaded for Windows please wait just a bit. The good news is that we are re-compiling with MinGW, a different compiler and one that may allow us to produce a 64-bit version for Windows. Stay tuned for update on a stable build.

MAC Beta Test Begins!

We come to another important milestone today, at last we can begin the beta testing for MAC OS's. I have sent out an email this morning (10:30 UTC/GMT -05:00) to those who wished to attempt this testing. If I missed you or you wish to be added please drop me a line: tex@lightzoneproject.org. It's a great day for us. Some of you who are long time LZ users may remember when LZ was an award winning program(MACWorld, MACUser) for MAC, and it has been frustrating for us that it has taken so long for us to get this ready for the MAC community.

News for June 3, 2013

Some good news today, although not yet the release of the software we all want: Paul Lucas, another of LightZone's original developers, has joined the Dev Team. Welcome Paul! Also, we have a stable Mac build that works in 32 bit and 64 bit on a couple of Mac OS's. We believe it will be ready for beta testing very shortly. More....

News for May 15, 2013

Those of you who have been following the Linux Beta Test know that the testers have found a thing or two for repairs, and that several of those problems have already been fixed---great work from them, especially Masahiro and Andreas! The Dev Team continues to work on a couple of others. Pavel Benak who is now our de facto lead developer will be away for a few days this week and so will I. Please bear with us until the end of this week, especially new registrants awaiting full approval. I will get to you only twice a day for the next 2 days.

Linux beta testing has begun! (plus Windows news)

Today, May 5 (Cinco de Mayo!---have a Margarita!) 2013, we begin our Linux Beta Test. I have emailed all of you who responded below to the post "Call for Linux Beta Testers" from our Bluehost server. Please be sure to check the email you provided at registration for the link to the download packages. Please reply to the email so I know who got it. We are testing 32 and 64 bit versions for Ubuntu (which may also work on Debian), OpenSUSE, and Fedora. This will be an accelerated beta test, because <!--break-->we think most issues would already have been caught in the Windows tests.
