Registration notes

Posting rules: It shouldn't need saying, but... play nice. Please keep your discussions civil. You can disagree, just don't be disagreeable. And, of course, all of the usual stuff like no spamming. Tex adds: I'll be rigorously enforcing this as we go along. We're probably going to be a small community in a little lifeboat, so we can't have members at each others' throats. This is for the sake of the project as a whole. So when you post, pretend you're speaking in person with your very wealthy auntie who has always treated you wonderfully and currently lists you prominently in her will. I won't be tossing anyone out of the forums because we are all in this together (except spammers: immediate membership cancelation), but I'll delete suspect posts right away.

Registration is a three step process!

  1. After providing your username and email address....AND RE-READING IT!!! (too many people have typed their email addresses incorrectly...)----and the email you provide must be legitimate and one that you check regularly.....
  2. We immediately send you an automated email with a one-time log-in link.   You should receive this email very quickly---something like under 10 minutes. If you do not there is something wrong.   If you do not get this email check your spam folder, or try again, or contact us if you are having problems from the "Contact" page link found on the menu bar, but please read the instructions on the contact page!  In order to help you we will need some information from you.  We check the site multiple times a day, and also our email in the event you have had a problem.   If you do not receive the automated email, do not wait more than 1 hour to contact us unless you know that your email is especially slow (remote areas and/or places with poor internet).  We will help you as soon as we can.
  3. You must follow the instructions in the email to activate your account by logging in again through the one time link.   Please complete the process as soon as you can, otherwise we will delete your account.

Update, March 5 2014:  Approval is now automatic.

excite new software for me :)

looking forward use your awsome software....

Waiting with keen anticipation

I'm just waiting for approval now, so it shouldn't be long.  I came across Lightzone in DPReview and judging from the screenshots, it might just answer a problem for me.  I have Lightroom 4, and also use Olympus Viewer 2.  Both have menus which I find difficult to read (my eyes are getting old) so here's hoping.

Whether or not Lightzone solves my specific problem, thankyou for making this program available.

Hello! :)

Bibble Pro/Aftershot Pro user, I look forward to trying out Lightzone.

And our records, which i just checked, show you as a full participant.  So, my question to you is:  If you read what we have posted about the timings of things, why have you waited so long to get in touch with us to let us know there might be a problem?  And why here and not through the "contact us" button on the menu bar?

Please send me an email at your earliest convenience, and include the information we ask for.  Thank you.

Tex great work

I like your tenacity over how some of the members think its all an automatic registration process. I don't believe they think you have a life outside of the confines of the mouse and keyboard. Your attitude rocks when replying to the posts that people are requresting registration. Too funny paitently awaiting registration!!!

Nice product from the videos that I have scene so far !!!

Well, thanks.  FWIW, they do

Well, thanks.  FWIW, they do have a point:  ours is a clunky system and needs to be reformed.  I have looked into that, however, and it's just not the snap many think it is.  And we actually have still gotten a handful of spammers.  What makes me worry is those with sociopathic maliciousness.

Also, making registration mandatory for downloading has indeed made a HUGE difference in membership numbers---which we really need---and the several floods we've had would have completely overloaded our download sites---and the problem with that is that once that happens, we could be unable to offer the downloads for weeks, since it is based on a so much per month basis.  I'd rather freeze the website---we can correct that.

Anyway, I appreciate and try to tolerate some of the comments seeming impatient.  I've gotten a couple though....whew!  Not here, though.

Hmm, it's been about 15 hours, just checking. no approval email.

? ability to download to other computers...

To whom this may concern:

I have a question re: the ability to download to other computers. I have a laptop that I take with me on travel as well as a second desktop in my home. Am I able to download onto these computers as well?

I'm asking this as I await my final approval email letter.

Thank You,

Sally A. Schwartz

The program is free for you

The program is free for you to use without restrictions.  You may download it as many times as you like onto as many devices as you like.  But I'm not sure there is any way to synch your files between computers with LZ....

For my part, on my travel computer I have FastStone Image Viewer.  Also free, and an excellent image viewer.  It also does raw conversion and some light editing, and can do some annotation work, but I don't edit my work while traveling.  I use FastStone to do critical checking of focus and to a lesser extent exposure.  I wait until I'm at my workstation at home, with a big, calibrated screen, to do any serious editing work.

For pro-grade on-the-fly work, coordinating workstations and laptops, with tethering thrown in for good measure, I personally would go with LightRoom.  Libraries and catalogs can be synched, and the tethering is great to have once set up---plus LR has far more robust ways to publish, and this can obviously be done from the laptop when necessary.  Of course, you could use LZ  as well as a designated external editor from LR on that laptop.  But it seems to me that a laptop screen just is not large enough to do serious editing work.

Nice to see your web site up and running

Hello there

I have this on my laptop from a Major Geeks download and really like it. thanks for all of your teams hard work.

Happy New Year everyone!!

I just got my first DSLR (1 week ago) and I am commiting to use RAW or RAW+JPEG (rather than just using P&S with JPEG) and I have been searching for a RAW editor and trying to learn on the fly for days.. and finally found this.

Hope it is not that hard to learn :)

Well, it isn't---but some

Well, it isn't---but some things may not be obvious!  We have about 3 hours worth of video tutorials that we have produced, and others have made more.  Ours are very detailed, and look at different parts of the program separately.

You don't say what DSLR you have...but remember, the program has to have a raw profile for that camera for you to be able to convert your raw files...

Hello :-)

Happy New Year! :-)

I changed my password.  How long before the download link appears?

If this posts makes it, does this mean I've got the -in- ?

Won to three?

No Download Link on Left

I went through all the steps; registration request, email link, changed password, I'm able to log out and log back in just fine, I tried refreshing Chrome, but still no block with download link.  I see three blocks; Help Files, Download Block Appears Below This Block for Registered Members!, and Raw Profiling Center. Please help when you get a chance, thanks for your time.
